New Orientation Policy Notice: Starting with the Thursday, October 15, 2009 orientation, children under fifteen will not be allowed to sit in a orientation session. Students who bring their children should be encouraged to reschedule their appointment time.

As of Monday, November 3, 2008, all orientation sessions will require participants to reserve their appointment in advance. Appointments can be made at (http://ccc.timetrade.com), then using the instructions (PDF) to access the system prior to scheduling an orientation session.

The orientation workshops at Harold Washington College (HWC) provide first-time students with general information about the college including transfer and career programs, distance learning, student services, assessment, enrollment and registration policies and procedures. A question and answer session at the end of each orientation session will provide answers to any specific student questions. In addition, students learn that they can receive individual advising by arranging an appointment with a college advisor. Placement test scores are also issued to students based upon attendance at the workshop.

Student orientation sessions are also offered at various dates and times throughout the semester to accommodate students who register early.
